Panic Disorder Treatment

Panic Disorder

Could I have Panic Disorder? If you have had recurring panic attacks, and for 1 month have been worried about more panic attacks, and/or you are avoiding situations where a panic attack may occur, you may have Panic Disorder.

What is a Panic Attack? A rush of intense fear and uncomfortable physical sensations, including 4 of the following:

  • Pounding heart
  • Hyperventilating
  • Shortness of breath
  • Muscles shaking
  • Chest tight or painful
  • Dizzy
  • Light Headedness
  • Numbness or tingling
  • Hot Flashes
  • Fear of dying
  • Fear of going crazy or losing control

If this has been happening to you, know that we understand how incredibly frightening the experience can be! A vicious cycle takes place of panic attacks, and then fear of another attack, which leads you to avoid going shopping, to a restaurant, driving long distances, etc.

The good news is that Panic Disorder is very treatable! We use a comprehensive plan of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which includes behavioral coping skills as well as working with thoughts and beliefs which maintain the panic cycle.

First Steps- If you suspect you have Panic Disorder:
